The Polo Academy

Based at the magnificent Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club, the Polo Academy plays host to an abundance of lessons, courses, and corporate events. The Academy operates 6 days a week – Monday through to Saturday and is open from early October through to end of May. The Academy headed up by Steve Thompson, a qualified Hurlingham Polo Association coach has developed teaching methods to ensure swift and successful learning all within a budget that matches many other serious recreational pursuits. From absolute beginners to those looking to improve on their existing skill, The Academy is able to accommodate individuals at all levels.

The Academy operates a fast track learning program that will equip any individual with all the skills necessary to participate in an Instructional chukka, generally after approx 10 individual lessons. Following this, clients are encouraged to participate in the intermediate chukkas for the first part of the new season before graduating as full playing polo members.

Following 15 years on the international polo circuit, Steve Thompson comes with an abundance of playing contacts from all around the world. These clients visit Dubai on a regular basis for the purpose of pre-season training or to participate in chukkas or matches. The Academy will always have a horse to hire to suit any level of ability.

Working in conjunction with many of the hotels and local tour operators The Academy offers a fun introduction to the game during the mini hour and half Polo Experience. Aimed specifically at tourists and holiday makers, this fun activity can be enjoyed 3 times a week and is suitable for groups of 2- 10pax. In addition to this The Academy also offers a 3hour Polo Experience for the local Corporate group market catering for groups up to 30pax.

This season has also seen the launch of the highly entertaining concept of Camel Polo. The Academy is now offering this unique activity – also for complete novice participants & a great form of entertainment for corporate as well as holiday groups, on a regular basis throughout the Polo Season.

As part of our ongoing service for clients and sponsors the Polo Academy regularly becomes involved with events and innovations with a polo theme. By its very nature, polo attracts an abundance of media attention and we work closely with clients to help them communicate a corporate message using the sport as the media vehicle.
